Product development

Prototype a Product

Turn an early idea into a physical version you can hold, test and improve.

Overview

Make the idea easier to evaluate.

BAUMS helps move product concepts from a sketch or digital model into a practical prototype. The goal is to learn what works before committing to the next version or a production run.

Project path

Make the next decision with physical evidence.

The project may move directly to production or use a prototype first. BAUMS recommends only the steps the result needs.

  1. 01

    Share

Send the idea, dimensions, reference or digital file.

  2. 02

    Plan

We review function, fit, material and the most useful first version.

  3. 03

    Prototype

A physical sample is produced for evaluation.

  4. 04

    Refine

Feedback guides revisions or the move into production.

Useful outcomes

What this service can produce.

  • Proof-of-concept and fit-check models
  • Functional housings, enclosures and mechanisms
  • Visual models for presentation and review
  • Replacement or improved product components
  • Test versions before a focused production run

Project decisions

How the method is selected.

  • FDM 3D printing for functional and visual prototypes
  • Multi-color or multi-material workflows where they improve the test
  • CAD edits and production-file preparation
  • Laser or UV finishing when the prototype needs a complete presentation

Starting information

What to send first.

  • Common options include PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PC, PA and TPU, selected by project
  • STL, STEP, STP, OBJ and 3MF files can be reviewed
  • Sketches, photos, measurements and written references are also accepted

Project fit

Start with the intended result.

A strong fit when you need to validate form, fit, function or appearance before producing more. BAUMS will explain when a simple model is enough and when a functional test version is worth the extra work.
